This Viral Photo is the Epitome of Kentucky Throughout this Pandemic

The photo first surfaced on our Hello Louisville IG from a neighborhood stroll in Louisville. Chalked on the steps was “April Distance Brings May Existence”, written perfectly in different colors, descending down a staircase.

The stairstep chalk mural is a timely play on the old proverb, “April showers bring May flowers,” which of course speaks to the fact that April is often a rainy time of spring that helps lead to spring blooms. The quaint saying is a truncated version of the original, “March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers,” which dates to the 1880s. The shorter version is the one most often used in modern times.

The creativity in this version is the perfect message of being healthy at home and social distancing as Kentucky tries to navigate and contain the coronavirus outbreak, while also paying tribute to Governor Andy Beshear and his efforts to lead.

Thanks to Governor, Andy Beshear for the mention on “Beers with Beshear” everyday at 5PM.
