Prep Meals 502 to open new Highlands location Feb. 10
Life comes at you like a herd of elephants sometimes. On days like that, cooking a meal just isn’t in the schedule.
Prep Meals 502, which sells ready-made meals for those days and weeks in which the herd runs rampant, will open a new location in the Highlands on Feb. 10. And this isn’t fast food, but rather nutritious meals that can be tailored to diets and specific lifestyle plans, be it keto, vegan, paleo or something else.
In addition, the business offers meals that include antibiotic- and hormone-free chicken and turkey, Kentucky-bred grass-fed bison, Kentucky-raised pork, wild-caught chemical-free salmon sourced from local farms and more.
And it’s not a contract deal; with the brick-and-mortar model, you can stop in and grab whatever you want, and in whatever quantity. Then, just heat and eat.
“Prep Meals 502 is for everybody,” says Prep Meals 502 Jamie Stich in a statement announcing the new store, “from busy parents, teachers, fitness enthusiasts and retired individuals who might need help preparing healthy meals.”
Some examples of the type of fare that can be found are salmon with red potatoes and broccoli; chicken pad thai with zucchini noodles; chicken with sweet potato and asparagus, and steak with brown rice and broccoli. Kids’ meals, breakfast items and snacks and drinks also are available, as is delivery service.
All meals are prepared by Stich and Chef Gabe Sowder and typically cost between $7 and $11. Customers can also pre-order online and there is even dine-in space at both locations. The new store is located at 2218 Bardstown Road in the spot next to door to Havana Rumba (it previously was a florist called The Blossom Shop).
Bistro 42 in Prospect to close
Bistro 42, the little Italian eatery in Prospect, announced on Facebook it will close in the near future after 10 years in business.
Simply posting a photo of a chalkboard sign, the business attributed the impending closure to the retirement of the chef, known to patrons as “Momma.”
“Momma is retiring,” the post said, “and with that, Bistro 42 will be no more.”
The post also noted that the chef also is working on publishing a cookbook and that regular customers can make requests to hopefully have some “favorites” added. The last day of business was not revealed. The restaurant is/was located at 6021 Timber Ridge Dr.
